Preparing for the learner baseline
What the baseline is, how to set up for it, and what to expect.

The baseline is the learner's first short, friendly activity with AIVO. It calibrates the Virtual Brain so lessons start at the right level — it is not a test, and there's no pass or fail.
Set up for a calm baseline
- Pick a quiet time when your learner is relaxed.
- Use headphones if audio helps focus.
- Turn on any accessibility tools first — see Managing accessibility settings.
Note: The baseline usually takes only a few minutes. Your learner can pause and come back — progress is saved.
Warning: If the baseline feels too hard or too easy, that's okay — AIVO keeps adapting. You can also request a rebaseline later. See Requesting a rebaseline.
